Past & Current Projects

Airborne Laboratory Atmospheric Research (ALAR) - to develop the capability to conduct measurements of fluxes of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) from a light aircraft.

Official ALAR Web Site

The Vertical Air Profiler consists of an air sampler with associated sensor electronics carried aloft up to 3000 ft by a blimp. On the ground a winch, batteries, ground electronics, and laptop computer are used to remotely power and control the airborne instrument. This is another fine example that shows that a JAFCI prototype instrument must also be a final production unit.

Mass Spec Solids Probe Construction - the JAFCI Precision Machine Shop has developed the capability for repair and construction of custom solids probes for mass spectrometry.

Indiana University Purdue University Indiana (IUPUI) - A collaborative project with David Nurok. The High Press was designed to perform planar electrocaromatography at pressures up to 100 atmospheres.

Negative Ion PhotoElectron Spectrometer (NIPES) combines a pulsed ion source, a time-of-flight mass spectrometer, a frequency-multiplied YAG laser, and a time-of-flight electron energy analyzer.
